Keep cycling the chain for 10seconds or so to help the lube work its way into your chain. 7. Thoroughly wipe away all excess lube from your chain using a clean cloth (excess oil on the outside of the chain will attract dust in dry conditions). Tips - 1. For wet weather conditions, leave a small amount of lube on the outside of the chain for longer-lasting protection. 2. On first use with pre-used chains, you may find that your chain turns black - this is the LinkLube driving out grime from deep in your chain. Just keep riding, degreasing, lubing and repeating until your chain runs shiny clean once more! Caution - Do not get LinkLube (or any lube for that matter!) on your brakes or brake pads.

A cream to help assist the break-in process and keep leather supple, specially formulated from natural ingredients to condition, preserve and shower-proof your saddle. Proofide is the only substance that should be used to care for your Brooks Leather Saddle, specially formulated from natural ingredients to condition, preserve and showerproof. Apply a little of this leather saddle cream to the finished side of the leather. Allow to permeate until dry and then polish off. Also apply Proofide to the underside of the saddle, but leave this coating on to protect against dirt and moisture. It should be used several times during the ‘breaking-in’ period and periodically (3-6 months) thereafter. It is recommended to polish the saddle with a soft cloth before first use.

The number one requirement for a grease is that it lubricates really well. In order for it to lubricate really well, a good grease needs molecules which flow over each other easily (less drag) and coat the metal surface thoroughly and evenly, to prevent metal on metal contact (which results in parts wearing). In nerd talk, our base oils have been formulated using synthetic esters with a marked polarity. Ok, who’s Ester and why is she in your oil?! Ester isn’t a woman, it’s a variant of synthetic oil! Esters are more expensive than straight synthetic oils because the ingredients all have to be collected from natural sources and then synthesized in much smaller quantities than regular synthetic oil. The number one reason to use ester oil is how well it bonds to surfaces. Ester oil has an electrochemical bond because the ester molecule is polar, sort of like a fridge magnet. It is attracted to metal and sticks like Peaty’s hand to a fresh cool pint of Yorkshire ale. Also, because of this electrochemical charge, the grease naturally distributes itself evenly over a surface since each molecule will repel away from each other - like trying to push two positive ends of a magnet together. COMPATABILITY Peaty’s Bicycle Assembly Grease is compatible with all oils of a mineral or synthetic nature except for PAG (Polyalkylene Glycol) based products.
